- Center for Advanced Studies - University of New Mexico; State-funded center for excellence housed within the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Research focus is on tiny scales, intense fields, and complex systems.
- Center for Global Environmental Technologies - University of New Mexico; Develops new technologies and engineering approaches to solve problems related to stratospheric ozone depletion and global warming.
- Center for Micro-Engineered Materials - University of New Mexico; Hosts the National Science Foundation's Ceramic and Composite Materials Center. Research objectives are to understand and use molecular and near-molecular processes to synthesize improved ceramic materials with controlled composite structures at nano- to micro-length scales.

- Laboratory Partnerships With Small Business - Enables Sandia National Labs to provide $5,000 of technical assistance to small businesses in urban areas and $10,000 in rural areas .
