The company first came to New Mexico in January 2006 when it took over the former MCI call center. In 2007, Verizon took over a 180,000-square-foot former Super K-Mart shell, a victim of that company's bankruptcy, on the city's West Side. Verizon, with the help of $22 million in industrial revenue bonds for construction and setup, converted the store into a teleservice center that employs 1300 people. |
